2021 South Australian Scientist of the Year

Congratulations to 2021 SA Scientist of the Year, Professor Shizeng Qiao 👏

Professor Qiao is the Chair of Nanotechnology in the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials at The University of Adelaide. His transformative work in materials science for energy conversion and storage technologies successfully brings together materials engineering, physical chemistry, electrochemistry and quantum chemistry.

Dr Qiao's His research expertise is in nanomaterials for new energy technologies (electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, batteries, fuel cell) which include synthesis and characterisation of nanoporous materials and nanoparticles as well as their applications in catalysis, drug and gene delivery, energy storage and conversion (fuel cell, lithium ion battery, supercapacitor and photocatalysis).

Study at one of Australia’s Group of Eight, The University of Adelaide is ranked #108 in the 2022 QS World University Rankings and #99 in the world for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology in the 2021 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Studying with the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials will prepare you to play a leading role in numerous industries—chemical, bioprocessing, environmental, food and wine technology, energy, mineral processing, and materials.
