Deakin University Scholarships

Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship

Deakin recognises students with consistently high academic performance and the potential to make a leading contribution to the university and its communities. Successful students will be required to participate in the Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program. Unsuccessful applicants of the Deakin Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship will automatically be considered for the Deakin International Scholarship.

Important dates

This scholarship is open to all students commencing studies.

This scholarship is available for the normal duration of the course.

  • All of your tuition fees or 50% of your tuition fees*
  • Participation in the Vice-Chancellor's Professional Excellence Program (VCPEP). Students will be required to participate in this program as part of the DVCIS scholarship
  • Priority place for on-campus accommodation (at own cost and subject to availability)

*This bursary will not apply to Doctor of Medicine

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • be a prospective international student for a coursework degree at Deakin University
  • be eligible to study at Deakin University
  • have achieved an 85% average (or equivalent) in previous studies.

Selection of successful applicants for the fixed number of scholarships will be competitive and may require scores above the stated minimum requirements.

Deakin International Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all students starting their studies at Deakin.

This scholarship is available for the normal duration of your course.

  • be a prospective international student for a coursework degree at Deakin University
  • be eligible to study at Deakin University
  • have achieved a 65% average (or equivalent) in previous studies.

Deakin STEM Scholarship

Deakin University, Australia, is working to help the innovators of tomorrow achieve their potential. The Deakin Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship is a 20 percent scholarship for international students applying for undergraduate, postgraduate coursework within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment.

Applications close Trimester 3, 2026.

This scholarship is available for the normal duration of the course*

  • 20% of your student contributions (tuition fees).

*Recipients must continue to meet eligibility requirements during their Deakin studies to continue receiving this scholarship

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible you must:

  • be a citizen from Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka or Vietnam
  • be a new student who commences their course at Deakin anytime up until Trimester 3, 2026
  • meet the entry requirements for their course, including English language requirements
  • maintain a weighted average mark (WAM) of least 65% during each previous year of study at Deakin AND have at least 8 credit points to complete in your course (only relevant if you are a student readmitting to Deakin)
  • be studying a Deakin undergraduate or postgraduate coursework (including honours) from the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE)^
  • not be commencing a course on the FutureLearn platform
  • achieve the relevant scores for your current program as detailed below:

^ Please note that information systems courses and business analytics courses are not eligible for this scholarship. Double degrees are also not eligible for the STEM Scholarship, except for the Bachelor of Design (Architecture)/Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours), which is an eligible course.

Deakin Latin America Scholarship

Deakin is offering prospective international students from Latin America with exceptional academic achievements the opportunity to receive a discount off their tuition fees.

This scholarship of 15% of the total indicative tuition fee stated on your offer letter is available for the normal duration of the course*

* The scholarship will not apply to H911 (Doctor of Medicine).

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • be a prospective international student for a coursework degree (bachelor or masters) at Deakin University
  • be a citizen of Latin America
  • have met the English and academic requirements for entry to their selected course
  • not have accepted any other Deakin scholarship or bursary.

Academic eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • have an overall equivalent WAM of 65% in the most recent post-secondary studies.
  • Where an applicant has not commenced any post-secondary studies, the applicant must have completed secondary studies with an average of 65% or as stipulated below.

Vietnam Scholarship

Deakin is offering a 20% scholarship to Vietnamese citizens living in Vietnam with consistently high academic performance and the potential to make a leading contribution to the university and its communities.

Applications close Trimester 3, 2024

This scholarship is available for the normal duration of the course

  • 20% of the student contributions (tuition fees)

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

    • be a citizen of Vietnam residing in Vietnam
    • have not accepted any other Deakin Scholarship
    • be a new student commencing their degree up until Trimester 3, 2024
    • meet the entry requirements for their course, including English language requirements
    • be studying an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework* Deakin degree (except for courses offered by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) and Faculty of Health#). For these courses you may be eligible for our Deakin STEM Scholarship or Deakin Global Health Leaders Scholarship.
    • Achieve the relevant scores for your current program as detailed below under Conditions.

*Please note, this scholarship does not apply to Honours, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters by Research, PhD

Conditions

To be eligible you must meet one of the following in your most recent qualification/studies:

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

  • Have studied the equivalent of at least one trimester at any university in Vietnam and achieve a WAM of at least 65%
  • Completed High School in Vietnam (local or international) with:
    • minimum 8.0 (GPA out of 10) or higher
  • ATAR – 5 points above the lowest selection rank of an applicant to    which an offer was made in the selection year
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) – 27 (Law related courses & Optometry - 33)
  • UK A Levels – 2 points above the entry score

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Have completed a bachelor degree or at least one trimester at postgraduate level at any University in Vietnam and achieved a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 65%.

Deakin International COLFUTURO Bursary

Deakin is offering a 25% bursary to COLFUTURO beneficiaries who choose to study a two-year Masters program at Deakin.

Closing date: Trimester 3, 2024

This 25% bursary is available to students from Colombia or residents in Colombia who qualify to receive a COLFUTURO loan/scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants need to be from Colombia or residents in Colombia who qualify to receive a COLFUTURO loan/scholarship.
  • This bursary can only be applied to students who have received a COLFULTURO loan/scholarship.
  • The bursary is applicable to a two-year standard coursework Masters program (excluding Doctor of Medicine).

Conditions:

  • Applicants must undertake full-time study and hold a WAM of 65% or above.
  • All incoming postgraduate students are required to meet English Language Proficiency.
  • Applicants have to apply and have received an offer from Deakin University in order to apply for the COLFUTURO loan/scholarship.
  • All applicants must ensure they meet the COLFUTURO application requirements and annual deadlines.

Deakin Global Health Leaders Scholarship

Deakin's Faculty of Health is offering a 20% scholarship to international students who enrol in the courses listed below.
