The University of Tasmania (UTas) is pleased to support international students to study in Tasmania in 2023. UTas believes that university study should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
University of Tasmania Scholarships

It’s generous scholarship offerings provide full fee-paying international students with a range of opportunities to go towards living and study costs. Some are based on academic merit, and others provide you with support to access university studies. Utas also provides scholarships for alumni and for family members of current students.

For many of their International Scholarships, students will be assessed at the time of submitting their International Student Application so there is no need to apply for the scholarship separately. Offer letters will notify applicants if they have been awarded a scholarship.

Tasmanian International Scholarship

The Tasmanian International Scholarship provides commencing international students with a 25% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of their course (provided satisfactory grades are maintained).

All international students who submit an International Student Application to study in an undergraduate degree (with the exception of the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Dementia Care and AMC Seafaring courses) will be automatically assessed for the TIS Scholarship by the UTas Admissions Team.

This scholarship is also available to international students applying for postgraduate coursework degrees (with a few course exceptions).

Applicants are automatically assessed for the Tasmanian International Scholarship at the time of submitting their International Student Application. Selection for this scholarship will be based on academic merit achieved in studies at secondary, diploma and degree level courses. Applications are assessed for all semester intakes and selection for this scholarship will be based on an applicant's highest level qualification prior to commencing their intended study program (minimum one-year duration). Please also note that qualifications and grading scales can vary significantly from country to country.

Offer letters will notify applicants if they have been successful in being awarded a scholarship, provided final results have been submitted. Successful UTas TIS recipients will find inside their Offer details of the Scholarship terms and conditions, which they must read carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students.
