Greetings, Future Leaders!

In today's highly competitive academic sphere, Macquarie University has marked its place among the best. As per the latest QS World University Rankings, Macquarie University has achieved its highest ever global ranking, jumping an impressive 65 places to now sit at the 130th position worldwide.

This breakthrough ranking, released today for 2024, positions Macquarie University as the 10th best institution in Australia, climbing up four places from last year's result.

The phenomenal rise of Macquarie University can be attributed to advancements across various quality metrics, including faculty citations, and alterations in the ranking methodology. This year, three new performance indicators were introduced, and the weightage of other indicators were readjusted to mirror the shifting priorities of the higher education sector and student expectations.

Proudly, Macquarie University ranked within the Australian Top 10 for all three new indicators - Sustainability (ninth), Employment Outcomes (eighth), and International Research Network (eighth).

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor S Bruce Dowton, affirms that this improved standing reflects Macquarie University's unwavering dedication to student success, influential research, and impactful sustainability efforts.

The QS rankings, established in 2004, evaluate institutions on various parameters, including research, teaching, reputation, employability, and international outlook. The 2024 edition reviewed 2963 institutions globally, and published the top 1500.

This year's ranking marks Macquarie University's second consecutive year within the Top 200 universities worldwide, further solidifying its upward trajectory. In the past five years alone, the university has climbed an astonishing 107 places.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Rorden Wilkinson, appreciates the QS recognition, viewing it as an acknowledgement of the university's success in cultivating career-ready graduates.

At Macquarie University, our graduates are primed for fulfilling and successful careers. Our alumni are highly sought after and well-prepared for the evolving jobs of today and tomorrow.
