Swinburne Industry Sprint: Change with Impact
Melbourne, Australia - International students at Swinburne University of Technology's Hawthorn campus recently showcased their talent and innovation at the "Swinburne Industry Sprint: Change with Impact" event. This two-day industry sprint provided over 50 international students with a unique opportunity to pitch a social enterprise concept to a panel of judges and compete for a prize pool worth $4000.
The event, part of Swinburne's commitment to offering extra support to international students, saw participants working in groups to develop a business solution for a youth charity organization. It served as a platform for students to hone essential skills such as communication, responding to feedback, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Ting Cheung, a Master of Marketing student and member of the winning team, praised the event: "The Swinburne Industry Sprint: Change with Impact is well-organised and provided an opportunity for us to work on real-life projects and make new connections."
The university also highlighted the success story of Lynn Cheong See, a former international student from Mauritius who completed her Bachelor of Health Science (Professional) at Swinburne in 2021. Specializing in biomedical science and clinical technologies, Lynn extended her visa to gain professional experience, leading to a placement at the Royal Melbourne Hospital as a trainee renal physiologist. This experience culminated in a graduate position at the hospital, showcasing the practical and career-oriented nature of Swinburne's programs.
Swinburne University is renowned for integrating future-focused technology into its courses, as seen in the Bachelor of Health Science program. This three-year full-time degree uses the latest digital technologies and virtual reality tools, preparing students for careers in medical research, healthcare consulting, clinical physiology, and more. The degree's Work Integrated Learning component further connects learners with the industry through student-led projects.
