Engineering Managers (ANZSCO 1332) play a crucial role in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and coordinating the engineering and technical operations of organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Indicative Skill Level:

Most occupations within the Engineering Managers unit group require a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor's degree or higher qualification. However, in some cases, relevant experience of at least five years may substitute for the formal qualification. Additionally, on-the-job training and/or relevant experience may be necessary to supplement the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

Tasks Include:

  • Determining, implementing, and monitoring engineering strategies, policies, and plans
  • Interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications, and providing advice on engineering methods and procedures to achieve construction and production requirements
  • Establishing project schedules and budgets
  • Ensuring conformity with specifications, plans, laws, regulations, and safety standards
  • Observing engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness, and performance
  • Overseeing maintenance requirements to optimize efficiency
  • Liaising with marketing, research, and manufacturing managers regarding engineering aspects of new construction and product design
  • Contributing to research and development projects
